BlackJack Basic Strategies

The object of having a strategy for Blackjack is to reduce the house edge, allowing slightly more wins for the player. In order to do this, you must apply some basic mathematics to the game. To start to understand how a strategy works, divide the game into hand sections, then evaluate the possible outcome of each hand depending on the action you take for each scenario. Below, we will show you an easy to remember strategy that you can apply to your game, and if you follow this strategy to the letter it will pay off for you in reducing the house edge.

Hard Hands

Your hand shows an 8 or lower you should always hit.
Your hand shows a 9, hit unless the dealer shows 3 -6 and in this case double.
Your hand shows a 10, If you have Ten : hit unless the dealer has 2 - 9 and in this case double.
Your hand shows an 11, hit if the dealer has an Ace, double for 2 - 10
Your hand shows a 12, stand if the dealer has a 4, 5 or 6 and hit on any other.
Your hand shows 13, 14, 15, or 16, stand if the dealer has 2 - 6, hit on other.
Your hand shows 17, 18, 19, 20 or 21, always stand.

Soft Hands

Your hand shows and Ace and a 2 or 3, double when the dealer has 5 or 6, hit on other. Your hand shows and Ace and a 4 or 5, double when the dealer has 4, 5, or 6, hit on other.
Your hand shows and Ace and a 6, double when the dealer has 3, 4, 5, or 6, hit on other.
Your hand shows and Ace and a 7, double when the dealer has 3, 4, 5, or 6, stand if the dealer has 2, 7, or 8, hit on other.
Your hand shows and Ace and a 8 or 9, always stand.

To Split or Not to Split

Your hand shows a pair of Aces or 8's, always split.
Your hand shows pair of 2's or 3's, split if the dealer has 2, 3, 4 5, 6, or 7, hit on other.
Your hand shows a pair of 4's, split if the dealer has 5 or 6, hit on other.
Your hand shows a pair of 5's, double if the dealer has 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9, hit on other.
Your hand shows a pair of 6's, split if the dealer has 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6, hit on other.
Your hand shows a pair of 7's, split 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7, hit on other.
Your hand shows a pair of 9's, split 2, 3, 4, 5, o4 6, and 8 or 9. Stand if the dealer has a 7, 10 or an Ace.
Your hand shows a pair of 10's, always stand.
